Mobile phone giant Blackberry have officially released the launch date of their first ever tablet computer expected to be out on the 16th June 2011.

The sexy playbook is looking to compete against the Apple Ipad and other competitors for a slice of the market. Priced more competitively than the Apple the 16gb tablet is only £399, 32GB £479 and 64GB £559.

The Apple alternative can be purchased from all good electrical retailers such as Best Buy, Dixons, Currys, Carphone Warehouse and phones4u. With a lot of suppler channels Blackberry aim to saturate the market with the tablet. It is already on sale in America over the past month and “It has done well but it has not been a frenzy” according to Steve Coffin an american Future Shop manager  suggested.

The main comparisons between the Playbook and mac include a smaller screen on the playbook (7-inch screen vs 9,7 inch screen with the mac) However, the Playbook matches the Ipad’s processor, resolution and has the option of larger memory, it also has a dual camera that can record full HD footage at 1090p.

The great thing about this tablet is the functionality of running bespoke apps, android apps and blackberry java apps.

It’s a beautiful bit of equipment and it’s a great alternative to the other products out there at the moment.

Kill Bill super vixen Uma Thermon turned up at Cannes Film Festival this past week in a variety of gorgous white gowns debuting a new dress each day. Today she stepped out for the Piratates of the Caribbean on Stranger Tides premier in an incridble Chanel Couture number.

The statuesque 41 year old elegantly wore the off white floor sweeping Chanel dress that perfectly accentuated her height, figure and shape.

Uma Versace

She has taken the feathers and fishtail as a signiture to her gowns at the awards as she adopted a similar Versace gown on the opening night of the festival. It worked well as she glided up and down the red carpet posing happily for photographers and other celebrities.

The back was a main feature of the dress which featured small buttons that adorned to the top and perfected with a bow at the bottom.

The dress was specially made due to her height, she joked about not being able to find anything in store. The dress was combined with a pair of dangling emerald earrings from Chopard. The base of the dress was a feathered making it a perfect dress for the festival. High Fashion and stunning.

Her selection of dresses over the past few days have all been white, chic and beautiful. Great choice Uma

The self proclaimed King of R&B  is back with his latest album Love Letter due to be released on the 14th December 2010.

Love Letter Album cover

Having heard his first song out named “When a woman loves” I had to research some more, it has already entered the billboards at #23 and has already risen to number 22 mid week midweek and I can see why.

The album has the right mix of soft SLOW jams, love tracks, upbeat tracks and romcoms of music as I like to call it, the types of tracks you can put on low in the background in your apartment to give your guests some atmosphere!

trapped in the closet
trapped in the closet

One thing I like about R Kelly is his lyrics-they always tell a story, prime example is trapped in the closet! but then they usually have a funny twist almost as if it is a dramatic TV series. One song that also encapsulates this is “Be my #2” which is about him asking a girl to be his second girlfriend. Hilarious really! but the beat is amazing, makes you want to dance despite the offensive nature of the lyrics!

His track listing of the new album have been released as:

1. Love Letter Prelude
2. Love Letter
3. Number One Hit
4. Not Feelin’ The Love
5. Lost In Your Love
6. Just Can’t Get Enough
7. Taxi Cab
8. Radio Message
9. When A Woman Loves
10. Love Is featuring K. Michelle
11. Just Like That
12. Music Must Be A Lady
13. A Love Letter Christmas
14. How Do I Tell Her

Of which, my favourite songs are:

Love Letter-A sweet song you can slow dance to and sing along very easy to learn and bop to! old school typical R. Kelly and we love it!

Not Feeling the love- great lyrics, tells a story, has emotion, another romcom type of song, atmospheric for a BBQ or friends over for drinks! the easy two-step music!

Lost in your love- another good baseline for the BBQ or house! However it does remind me of his old success “Happy People” it has the two step sound that is a get up and dance sound. Love it though, feel good lyrics that most women want to hear from their loved ones.

Just can’t get enough- I actually rated this 5 stars on Itunes so this song is fab on first impact, again very old style beats happy feel good music that you want to learn the words to and sing in the car.

Taxi Cab- the lyrics for this is typical R Kelly and that says a lot!

Radio Message- very old skool, swing dance, love it, dramatic announcements of love.

When A woman loves- first song to be released on the album, dramatic old school the type of music you would find on a movie soundtrack. Awesome, feel good song

A love letter Christmas Remix- Awesome- and I loved it the second time- Christmas lyrics are smart

The album will be out December 14th with artwork by Urban Bridgez.

There are a lot of people that have boycotted the Kell’s CD’s because of the stories in the newspapers, online and blogs about his “extracurricular activities” but I still enjoy his music, his lyrics and his beats so I refuse to quit listening to his music. I have most of his albums and I listen to them regularly So I can say I-want-that-now!

Whilst in Gatwick Airport a few weeks back on the way to Milan, I happened to stop in Duty Free store in search for a new ultra gloss as my old one had been discontinued.

I was keen to find a bright red, high shine gloss to wear day to day, so the search began…

The contenders…

Mac Plush Gloss

Dior Addict and

Dior Addict Gloss
Dior Addict Little Red Dress

YSL Golden Gloss.

YSL Gloss

From each of the ranges I wanted the brightest, loudest, and sparkly of the range.

Price did not play a factor as they all were similarly price around £15-£20.

Dior, immediatly caught my attention because of the display and I had seen the red I was after straight away, I have to also say I am slightly biased towards Dior, simply because my last lip gloss that I ABSOLUTELY loved was the Dior Kiss in bright red. So as I approached and saw something similar it struck a little heart string! Could this be my new favourite lip colour?!..

lip gloss

As with all glosses, it is paramount to try it on see what it looks like, the lady on the stand got me a new tester out and put the colour on for me, which was very nice, and my overall verdict was that quite simply. I loved it. It was very glamourous, high maintance, lots of presence, BOLD and very strong colour. It did not look too wet, which I believe is a bonus because wet look lipgloss can come off as a bit childish, or at least as if you have licked your lips too much!

The colour I chose to go for was the colour 856 Dior Addict Ultra Gloss flash- little Red Dress!

It has a beautiful 6.3ml glass effect bottle with a silver over-the-top lid.

Described as having a high spectacular shine providing oversized volume and a feminine finish.

And I would have to second that statement.

The colour was fab, however after sipping a drink or licking your lips a few times the colour will come off very easily but I guess there is no harm in re-applying. Or I guess buying a lipstick.

The addict range comes in three possible effects of colours:

Pearl- for fresh and a dash of colour

Glow- nude colours

Flash-Vibrant colours!

Since I bought this in duty free, i did not pay taxes so the gloss came up to around £16, which is mid range for a Designer lipstick.

A week later I am still wearing the gloss daily, Loving the attention and the demure affect the lip gloss provides.

I can defiantly say I will be using this again and I Want That Now

Yesterday I had the pleasure of going into Holland and Barrett for a few vitamins and on entrance to the store I happened to see a pretty bottle of Rochester Ginger Beer!
I love the true Jamaican Ginger Beer, I love the fire, the fizz the smell, Everything,  I have to say its beautiful.

So it intrigued me to try this one, plus it was a free sample! we all love samples!

So the lovely man in the shop poured me a tipple and I drank that bad boy down!
It had a lovely after burn that could be compared to “Rum” the guy in the shop suggested but I don’t think it was the case!
Maybe I am used to the burn of ginger beer as an avid drinker of it, but the guy seemed pretty shaken up by it which did make me laugh a little.

The drink is only £3.80 for a liter bottle which isn’t the cheapest Ginger beer drink in the world and you are only meant to have a tipple sized amount which for me, just isn’t good enough!
The lady in the shop suggested using it in cooking Indian food or as a medicine when she has a sore throat or needs to warm up but personally I would just want to drink it with some ice and not mess around!

There has also been the new campaign that has highlighted me to the brand Crabbies, which is an alcoholic version.

I have yet to try it but the adverts have at least given me product knowledge.

Here is a fantastic receipe that you could do to make an alcoholic ginger beer COCKTAIL

GaGa Ginger Cocktail

Get a whole piece of ginger and cut and slice removing the outer skin,

Create 3 small cubes about 2.5cm across and 3mm thick and add to the cup

Add 50ml of Vodka

Add a dash of brown sugar

Ice cubes to chill

Fill with some Champagne of your choice- we recommend Moet or Prosecco

Pour in a tipple of the ginger beer drink

I would say the Rochester Ginger Beer drink is worth the price to have one bottle every now and again it is a lovely drink and I can honestly say

I want that now!

We have all heard of Rosetta Stone, even hip hop star Drake quoted the language lesson software in his lyrics, but I had never thought to incorporate it in my learning of the language of love (Italian) in my spare time, so I wanted to test this so called amazing software suite out myself.

Rosetta Stone
Rosetta Stone

It all began, when I was minding my own business in the mall one Saturday, walking from one shop to the next when my attention was suddenly diverted to the bright yellow display stand and digital screen speaking Italian, being one of my passions it automatically caused me to stop and turn.

Italy map
Uk & Italy

The display had a voice booming out and a women attached to a microphone talking back to the “TV” in Italian,  puzzled I went in for a closer look.

The lady explained voice recognition was correcting her on pronunciation, whilst the software also tested her on reading, writing and her listening skills, and can immediately begin to teach you new words, phrases and with enough practice it can even  be enough to become semi conversational in 6 months .

Rosetta Stone Software
Software screen grab

Of course I mocked her at this, how could it be possible? she said its innovative software that uses pictures and life examples the way in which every individual has taught to communicate. This surprised me as I am an avid studier, I like pen to paper, repetition, re-writing and testing and of which I would need not to study in this way to learn the language. I was intrigued!

I tested it out as soon as I got home, starting with lesson one of the disks, which took me through the basics.

I worked through the CD’s daily, because I enjoyed it, I enjoyed getting checks and ticks, I enjoyed completing the chapters and I also realised I was learning new words.

I found myself in my car saying the Italian word for certain items I see whilst driving, surely it must be the affect of the program.

Woman thinking

Progressing through at a steady pace completing and finishing chapter after chapter and as my Italian grew so did my confidence in the software.

I went back for the further two levels 2 & 3, to allow me to gain more words and understanding, each chapter taking longer to complete with more grammar, vocabulary and words it most certainly elevated my learning.

Quite a pricey software out of the few available but defiantly the market leader and dominator in the variety languages and quality of program. I did find I would turn off the voice recognition software as my voice wasn’t picked up too well but this didn’t stop me from speaking Italian out loud to anyone that would hear me.

So if you are trying to learn a language, assist your learning with Rosetta Stone’s and their impressive collection of over 30 languages including French, German, Chinese and Spanish.

Rosetta Stone languages
Various Languages

Coming in at £179 for level 1 for the majority of the languages or £379 for the 3 pack set the software’s certainly stands tall in pricing but does actually justify this pricing with how fast and effectively you do learn with the system.

I have almost finished level 3 and I can have a “slow” conversation with some Italian friends, (my 3 month stint in Italy also helped) but I was better equipped to learn having invested time and money in the software.

I don’t understand why schools do not incorporate the software into learning, it is certainly a more efficient way of introuducing a language, purhaps the price doesn’t go down well on the budgets, but in terms of learning it would beat most methods.

But for me and my goal in wanting to be better at Italian I can honestly say that I want That Now
